Sci Fri: Sprouting Indian Corn

Sprouting Indian corn is kind of a hands-off, wait-a-week science experiment, so we loaded it up with extensions.

We began by studying the corn with jewelers loupe's before doing oil pastel and watercolour Still Life paintings.

Much like the Pumpkin Still Life, I asked we use oil pastels to draw shape, line and detail, so we could save the watercolour for colour washing.

Then we read 'Corn Child' from 'Tell Me a Story' using beeswax to model mini corn while listening.

The Indian corn has started sprouting (it took 5 days!), but we conducted a side experiment in the meantime; mold growth!!
