Math Monday: Bar Graph

A little more traditional in terms of 'school', but heavily inspired by one of our favourite reads, 'Ada Twist, Scientist.' I introduced graph paper and one of it's uses; bar graphs.

I asked Ms. O to sort her leaves according to the classification of her choice.
We then looked at the horizontal and vertical legends to mark "Leaves (colour)" and "Number of".
We looked at how the sign for number (#) resembles a Tic Tac Toe grid.

She matched her leaves with co-ordinating markers.
Five red leaves = five red squares, coloured

Ms. C is only into scissor work.
If it doesn't include scissors, it likely won't include her participation.
I set her up with leaf outlines and she set to work snipping.
