Embroidered Flowers

"The nature of this flower
is to bloom."

As we segue into Spring, the study of new life is a natural succession.
Albeit a slow entrance into Spring, the flowers are pushing their way through despite chilly bouts and it takes all O's will power to leave some blooms behind for the bee's! She loves to collect bouquets and arrange them in bottles, pails and pockets!

I wanted to learn the Anatomy of a Flower http://playfullearning.net/2016/04/science-lab-dissecting-flowers/
and take part in some plant dissection, but first I introduced the basics; petal, stem and leaves. We also discussed the colours of stems and leaves and learned that chlorophyll is responsible for their hue.

I asked O & Baby C to draw a simple flower (petals, stem and leaf) on a piece of soft, handmade paper.
Then they chose their favourite thread and stitched in places that would normally be coloured in. http://www.hellowonderful.co/post/KID-MADE-MOTHER----S-DAY-STITCHED-NOTEBOOK#_a5y_p=3613163
