Collecting Twig Pencils

Mother Natured featured these adorable (and practical!) Twig Pencils http://mothernatured.com/2015/04/29/painting-and-writing-with-sharpened-sticks/
With loads of twigs, we set to work cutting them into small sections and sharpening them.
Willow twigs worked best, with the smoothest finish and sharpest points.

The sharpened bundle was sitting on the counter top over a couple of days and pencils kept going missing;)
When we buckled down to do a painting project with them, O was extra keen and treated them like a 'feather' pen!
We used watercolour paint and very little water with excellent results.

I was surprised at how well they actually worked, absorbing enough watercolour paint to produce mini paintings and letters.
